Our top Rental home tips and tricks:
Get the best value:
- Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties.
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting the perfect rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Start by choosing potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 3BR in Sand Dunes Resort, Ocean Front Great Views! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the host before you book the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is best for your vacation.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you are crazy about, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- If your family is bringing pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make sure that damages are not linked to your visit, make note of any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the host immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to stimulate more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
