Myrtle Beach vacation rental home tips and tricks:

Sticking to your spending plan:

  • In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is an excellent way to save on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property management companies often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • First and foremost, have your family commit to date ranges and a max budget.
  • Oceanfront Balcony
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property owner before you book the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of issues.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • To make sure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, note any problem areas when you arrive. message the rental manager immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to drive more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
