Tips for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:

How to get the best value:

  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is a great way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for local shops and restaurants.

How to pick the best rental in the Myrtle Beach area:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Great unit with large windows to view the beach - Beach Colony 1200 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before you reserve the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what is best for your vacation group.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of issues.
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect your property!
  • During arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to stimulate future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
