How to find the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. Book your rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Planning and picking the right Myrtle Beach rental:
- Select dates and budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. 11th-floor oceanfront condo with AC, washer\/dryer, pools, & hot tub has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the host before booking the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
Additional considerations:
- Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Upon check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
