Finding the best rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental home in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have offers and deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Make a plan and pick yourrental home:
- Choose your dates and maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Oceanfront condo with renovated interior, views, pools, hot tubs & lazy river has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available online. If not, reach out to the host before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to determine which bed configuration is best for your vacation.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach attraction you love, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
Additional considerations:
- Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make sure no damages are linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. text the host immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
