Tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. Book your rental home in Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to pick the perfect rental home in Myrtle Beach:
- Select your dates and maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 17th-floor ocean-view studio with gym, AC, pool & hot tub - snowbird-friendly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish which bed configuration is right for your vacation.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Upon arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
