How to get the best rental experience:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. Book your vacation in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning and picking your prefectrental home:
- Select your dates and spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. 17th-floor ocean-view studio with gym, AC, pool & hot tub - snowbird-friendly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking websites. If not, contact the host before booking your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
During your stay:
- Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- To make sure damages are not attributed to your stay, make note of any problem areas during arrival. Call the rental manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
