Tips and Tricks to get the best rental home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Book your rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some owners offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning, selecting, and booking the bestvacation home:

  • Choose vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 6th-floor oceanfront condo with W\/D, pool, hot tub, & AC has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you book your home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is right for your family.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.

More tips for your stay:

  • Add the owner's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
