Strategies to get the optimal rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental in Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain coupons for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Choosing and booking a perfectrental:

  • Start by choosing potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Airy Ocean View Condo 5 Minutes to Restaurant Row has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is right for your family.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

During your stay:

  • Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many difficulties.
  • Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a terrific stay? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
