Tips to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:

Getting the most from your budget:

  • Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To book the largest rental for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have deals for nearby shops and restaurants.

Filter your search:

  • First, have your group agree to date ranges and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Beautiful Ocean View Condo with Four Pools has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. If not, reach out to the property management company before you book your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or could be applied to your contract.

Additional considerations:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to drive more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
