Strategies to get the perfect vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Choosing and booking the perfectrental:
- Begin by selecting your trip dates and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Charming oceanfront condo, in beachfront building with pool and wifi, Monthly W has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before reserving the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what is optimal for your trip.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges applied to your agreement.
Considerations for your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- To make sure that no damages are linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas upon check in. text the rental manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your life at home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to inspire more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
