Finding the best vacation property experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. Reserve your Myrtle Beach vacation in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Booking websites often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to select the perfect vacation home in Myrtle Beach:

  • Choose your vacation week and spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Peaceful Oceanside Retreat .14th floor. Amazing views. has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking websites. If not, call the host before booking the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or could be applied to your contract.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.

More tips for your stay:

  • Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect your property!
  • Record any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your life at home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
