Strategies to get the best rental experience:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Reserve your Myrtle Beach vacation home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
How to select the perfect rental home in Myrtle Beach:
- To start, have your group decide on dates and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Elegant & Spacious 3BR\/3BA w\/ Beautiful Ocean Views & Large Gourmet Kitchen! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible online. If they are not listed, email the host before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- During arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
