Tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, try changing your family's Myrtle Beach vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and picking yourrental:
- Start by choosing vacation dates and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Golden Mile Oceanside Condo welcomes you to 1 or 2 Bedrooms! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your trip.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or applied to your invoice.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
Know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few issues.
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect your property!
- Make a record of any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if there is a dispute.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
