Tips to get the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To get the best value, shift your family's Myrtle Beach vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to pick the best vacation home in Myrtle Beach:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Home with THE View - Oceanfront - Maison Sur Mer has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before booking the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish which bed configuration is right for your vacation.
- If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach destination you are enamored with, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- During arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a great vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
