Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
- The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain money saving offers on nearby shops and restaurants.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- First, have your group agree to vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Life's a Beach at a Place at the Beach V has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. If not, contact the property owner before booking your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you simply love, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
- If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.
Additional considerations:
- Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
