Rental booking tips and tricks:
When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental & When to go:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To get the best value, try changing your vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain discounts for local tours and attractions.
Finding the perfect vacation rental:
- First and foremost, have your family decide on the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Massive 4 BR Condo-Breathtaking Oceanfront Views-Paradise 1610 and 1611 has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you reserve your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what is optimal for your vacation group.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- During arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be respectful. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to stimulate more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
