How to find the best vacation home experience:

Sticking to a spending budget:

  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the best vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Selecting and booking the perfect Myrtle Beach rental:

  • Start by choosing your a vacation week and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Oceanfront One Bedroom Condo at Sands Dunes Sleeps 6-Sand Dunes 2428 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or costs could be applied to your invoice.
  • If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .

During your stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of problems.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
  • Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to drive new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
