Tips for getting the perfect rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Summer time is high season in Myrtle Beach. Book your rental property in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines that include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select your vacation week and spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 10th-floor oceanfront studio with AC, pool, & hot tub has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before booking the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out which bed configuration is right for your group.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
- Is your family looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
Advice for your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- To make certain that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. Call the rental manager right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
