How to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties.
- The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Some hosts offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain money saving offers on local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Choose vacation week and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. 10th floor partial ocean view condo with private W/D and central AC has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you book the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what is best for your vacation family.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
- If your group is traveling with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- At Check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a excellent vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
