Myrtle Beach vacation rental home tips and tricks:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- To find the largest vacation home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- To start, have your group commit to the best dates and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. 11th-Floor, Oceanfront, Snowbird-Friendly Studio w\/AC, WiFi, Shared Pool\/Hot Tub has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is generally available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- At Check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
