Strategies for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, change your family's Myrtle Beach vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Some hosts offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. 11th-Floor, Partial Coast View Studio w\/ WiFi, Shared Pool\/Hot Tub, AC has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property management company before booking the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.

More considerations:

  • Put the owner's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
