How to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Finding your best deal:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, try changing your vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing the perfect vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- To start, have your family choose trip dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. 12th-floor oceanfront dog-friendly condo w/shared pools, hot tub, WiFi, & AC has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you book the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is optimal for your family.
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Additional considerations:
- Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Upon check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your life at home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to compel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
