Strategies to get the very best vacation property experience:
Find your best deal:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Booking your vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have coupons for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to pick the perfect vacation home in Myrtle Beach:
- Start by having your group choose trip dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 12th floor Sun and Fun 2BR\/2BA @ Myrtle Beach Resort has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. If not, email the property management company before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many issues.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
