Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting the best vacation home:
- Start by having your family commit to dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 16th-floor ocean-view condo with pool, hot tub & beach access has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you love, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Add the host's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Upon arrival, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of problems.
- Be respectful. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to stimulate more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
