Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

Getting the best value:

  • In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have discounts for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Make a plan and pick your Myrtle Beach vacation home:

  • Select a group lead, select your dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. 18th-floor oceanfront snowbird-friendly condo with W\/D, pool, & hot tub has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before reserving the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine which bed configuration is right for your family.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental

More considerations for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Upon arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to propel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
