Rental booking tips:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to book:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, consider shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to pick the perfect rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 2 Bed, 2 Bath Coral Cottage—Walk to the Beach! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the host before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what is right for your trip.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or may be applied to your invoice.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach attraction you love, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of problems.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
- Upon check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
