Tricks and tips to get the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, change your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have money saving offers on local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Choose your vacation week and max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. 20th-floor partial ocean-view condo with W\/D, pool, hot tub, & AC has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. Otherwise, call the host before booking the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is best for your vacation.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges applied to your agreement.

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
  • At departure, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to compel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
