Vacation rental booking tips:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Some property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.
How to pick the best vacation home:
- First and foremost, have your group choose dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. 3 bdr/2 bath oceanfront unit has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property owner before booking your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach destination you simply love, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Document any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of issues.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
