Tips and Tricks to get the very best vacation property experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best rental home within your budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
- Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select your dates and maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. 3rd floor beach escape w/ great resort amenities, views, WiFi, and more has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before booking the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out which bed configuration is right for your family.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your contract.
- Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
During your stay:
- Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are out. Protect your property!
- Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
