Vacation rental tips and tricks:
Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To get the best value, try shifting your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for nearby tours and attractions.
Planning, picking, and booking the right Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- To start, have your family decide on date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 3rd-floor oceanfront condo with great beach views, hot tubs, pools & lazy river has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is normally available online. Otherwise, call the property owner before you reserve the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
More considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. text the rental manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of issues.
- Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
- Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
