Tricks and tips to get the optimal Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home in Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Booking websites often offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to pick the perfect rental home in Myrtle Beach:

  • First, have your family commit to dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Oceanfront 1 Bdrm King Suite Gorgeous View 7th Flr has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible online. Otherwise, email the property management company before booking the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is right for your vacation family.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking

Additional considerations:

  • We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of issues.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to stimulate new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
