Tips and Tricks to get the optimal vacation rental experience:
Sticking to a spending budget:
- Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. Book your vacation home in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning and choosing the perfect Myrtle Beach rental:
- First, have your family agree to trip dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 7th-floor oceanfront condo with hot tubs, pools, beach views, lazy river, gym has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the host before you book the rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you long to visit, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many problems.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
