Tips and Tricks to get the very best Myrtle Beach rental experience:
Getting the best value:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. Book your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have discounts for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Choosing the perfect vacation rental:
- Choose your vacation week and max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. 8th-floor partial ocean-view snowbird-friendly condo with pool, hot tub, & AC has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking websites. If not, email or call the property manager before booking the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out which bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach beach you simply love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many concerns.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- Record any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
