How to find the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is an excellent way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Start by choosing potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Cozy Oceanview Suite w/ Full Kitchen has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you reserve the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Call the rental manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
