Getting the best rental experience:
Sticking to a spending budget:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, try changing your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration you need. Stunning Family-Friendly Ocean Lakes Beach House has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before reserving the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what bed configuration is right for your group.
- If your family is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Request information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
Know before you go:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- During check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent stay? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
