Strategies to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- Book your vacation home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Finding the perfect vacation rental in Myrtle Beach:
- Select your vacation week and budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. C-12 Seahorse Lane. Beautiful 5 BR, 3 BA, 300 feet from the beach! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before reserving the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Does your family require specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
- If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Request information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to compel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
