Tips to get the very best rental home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best rental within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to select the best vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Start by choosing your a vacation week and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Caribbean Cove 504, Ocean View Bliss, Steps to the Beach, 4BR has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the host before you reserve the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your family.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few concerns.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
- Upon check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great time? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
