Tips for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- To book the most suitable rental home for your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking a perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- First and foremost, have your group commit to a vacation week and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Newly Renovated Ocean View 2 Bdrm Condo 15th Floor has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property manager before booking your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your trip.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More considerations:
- Add the host's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Note any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great source for finding the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- At departure, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
