Rental booking tips and tricks:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best value, change your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to pick the best vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Choose vacation dates and max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Contemporary Beach House in Central MB has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property management company before you reserve the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
- Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
Tips for your stay:
- Add the host's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the rental manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
