Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation rental experience:

Finding the best rental value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the best value, try changing your family's Myrtle Beach vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. 1139A in Ocean Lakes. 6BR\/3B. Just 2 min walk to the beach. has 6 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible online. If not, contact the property manager before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Tips to have a terrific stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
