Tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach rental experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, shift your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides that include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and choosing a perfectrental home:
- First and foremost, have your group decide on a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. MAGGIE'S PLACE - 200 YARDS TO THE BEACH LOCATED IN AN OCEANFRONT FAMILY RESORT has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your group.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the property manager's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make certain damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Speak to the host immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
