Tricks and tips to get the optimal vacation home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the largest vacation home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Filter your rental search:
- First, have your family choose trip dates and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Cozy 1-bedroom, ground floor condo in Myrtle Beach! Central location! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you book the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what is suitable for your vacation family.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
During your stay:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many problems.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to propel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
