Tips and Tricks to get the best rental experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, change your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have discounts for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Filter your search:

  • Choose your vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Direct ocean, full reno! Sand, surf + central fun! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property management company before reserving your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .

More tips for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • To make certain no damages are linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Speak to the rental manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great reviews to inspire new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
