Strategies to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:

When to visit & When to book:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have coupons for local shops and restaurants.

Filter your search:

  • Begin by selecting a vacation week and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Extremely Clean! First Floor! Newly Renovated 2023! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before reserving the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.

Advice for a terrific stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To make certain that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the property manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a wonderful stay? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
