Ocean Lakes has its own water park, with a tube slide, mat racers, lazy river, Indoor and Outdoor pools and a Splash Zone for kids. The water park is seasonal.
HOURS: Sandy Harbor Water Park Hours for 2023-24*:
(The Water Park is: Adventure River, Splash Zone, The Tube slide, and Drop Zone slide.)
Easter Weekend | Sandy Harbor Water Park should be open for the big Easter Weekend hordes (as much as we possibly can). For 2023 that is: Friday, April 7th through Sunday, April 9th, 2023. Then it will shut down until May 1.
PLEASE NOTE: Water Park MAY close early Easter Weekend due to weather conditions including temperature.
May* | Starting May 1, SHWP will be open on the weekends only with “hours as posted” until Memorial Day Weekend. Opening the Water Park may include shutting off the slides on the Drop Zone, The Tube, and Splash Zone while leaving the other parts of Sandy Harbor Water Park (the Adventure River and Splash Zone structure) open for guests.
Summer | Our water park will open full-time on Memorial Day Weekend and continue through Labor Day.
OPEN beginning Friday, May 26, 2023: the Water Park will be open 10 AM-6 PM Daily. [When staffing accepts (enough Lifeguards), Water Park hours will be Mon-Sat 9 AM-10 PM, Sunday 10 AM-10 PM.]
OPEN: Indoor/Outdoor Olympic-sized pool hours are: Mon-Sat 9 AM-10 PM, Sunday 10 AM-10 PM.
Fall* | Our water park will stay open under “hours as posted” through Sept. 1 – 30.* Opening the Water Park may include shutting off the slides on the Drop Zone, The Tube, and Splash Zone while leaving the other parts of Sandy Harbor Water Park (the Adventure River and Splash Zone structure) open for guests.
“Hours as posted” and weather permitting:
Labor Day – Sept. 30:
Open Monday – Friday, 10 AM – 6 PM – Adventure River, Splash Zone (all slides will be closed including The Tube, Drop Zone Mat Racer, and Splash Zone for kids).
Labor Day – Sept. 30 (weekends):
Open Saturday – Sunday, 10 AM – 6 PM – Adventure River, Splash Zone, Drop Zone Mat Racer, The Tube.
Open Every Day, 10 AM – 9 PM – Indoor/Older Outdoor Pools (not Adventure River or Splash Zone)
* Hours NOTE: Sandy Harbor Water Park defines all the Water Park elements, not JUST the slides. We appreciate everybody’s patience as our team works hard to provide this conveniences for your enjoyment.
Why the Water Park may not be open:
Many factors influence whether the water park can stay open – the weather is just one of them. Learn about weather closings.

Finding certified Lifeguards is another reason water parks typically cannot open (or close on Labor Day). Most of the Lifeguards who work all summer are High School and College students. We actually start to lose students at the beginning of August as students prepare to head back to class. This is in line with the traditional summer season of Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Vacation rental booking tips:

When to go & When to book:

  • Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have deals for local tours and attractions.

Choosing the perfect vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Family Times 311 @ Ocean Lakes on Beautiful Magnolia Lake, with elevator. has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before you book the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is suitable for your trip.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Upon check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peace. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a wonderful time? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
