Tricks and tips to get the best vacation rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to choose the perfect vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Start by choosing a vacation week and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Affordable Family Condo at River Oaks Golf Course Plantation Condo has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available online. If they are not listed, call the host before you book the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is right for your vacation group.
- If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Does your group require unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Tips to have a terrific stay:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To make sure no damages are linked to your stay, record any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the host right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
