Strategies to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:

Getting the best value:

  • Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the most suitable rental within your budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to pick the best vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Flamingo Hut at Ocean Lakes Campgrounds in Myrtle Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property manager before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what is suitable for your trip.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to inspire more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
