Our top Myrtle Beach vacation rental booking tips:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is a good way to save on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Start by choosing your vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Full House with 2-Master Bed\/Bathrooms - 4-Bedrooms 3-Bathrooms has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the host before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what is optimal for your vacation group.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

During your stay:

  • Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. message the property manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few issues.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to propel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
