Myrtle Beach rental home tips:
When to book & When to go:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, try shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Finding the best vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Gardner's Getaway (G3) has 6 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. Otherwise, email the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
More considerations for your visit:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few concerns.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- To make sure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Contact the host immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to stimulate new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
