Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
When to go & When to reserve a rental home:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental property in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- First and foremost, have your group select dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Gorgeous 3 Bedroom Penthouse on the Golden Mile has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before booking the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what is right for your trip.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach beach you love, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the host's information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make certain damages are not linked to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the property manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect your property!
- Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
